The Wizards Trails

The Alderley Edge to Macclesfield Wizards Trail

Alderley Edge Wizard Trails

Two of the most remarkable and imaginative books ever written in the UK, known to ignite the imaginations of teenagers and young adults, were written by Alan Garner, an author of Alderley Edge, a small Manchester suburb. The books, the Weirdstone of Brasingermen and the Moon of Gomrath, both describe the adventures of the teenage children Colin and Susan, on their epic adventures in the local woodland of Alderley Edge, and the outlying areas, stretching as far as Macclesfield.

The authors of this website have written an enhanced ebook describing the actual footpath trails as used in Alan Garner's books, illustrating them with hundreds of dynamic colour photographs, and describing the newly created Wizard Trails. It includes scrolling sidebars with research notes pertaining to places and events mentioned in the books.

The ebook includes the actual footpath trails with zoomable maps so that every inch of their journey can be followed precisely, allowing the reader to step into the shoes of Alan Garner as he observed and wrote.
